The Obama administration has scrapped a long-term healthcare program that was part of "Obamacare", the Affordable Care Act of 2010. The administration now claims that it could find a financial viable way to fund the Community Living Assistance Services and Support (CLASS) program, which was to be paid for by workers in return for cash in later years toward long-term care.
This was considered to be a major piece of Obamacare and is being hailed by some as the beginning of the end of the entire act.
Roughly 10% of companies intend to stop offering heath insurance and another 20% are considering ending the offer. The companies generally feel that paying the penalty and taxes will be more financially beneficial to them than paying for the health coverage, directing their employees to go to federally-funded health exchanges instead.
