The main topic of conversation at the annual HIMSS meeting in Las Vegas this morning is "What happened to Meaningful Use Stage 2?" Will Meaningful Use Stage 2 be unveiled today?

When Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, failed to announce the notice of proposed rule making (NPRM) for Stage 2 of the Meaningful Use regulations on Friday, many were surprised. The "inside word" from those in the know was that it was a given. With the HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) annual conference happening this week in Las Vegas, the time was certainly ripe, allowing all those who were interested to have the weekend to peruse them and arrive at the conference prepared.
