This presentation provides a comprehensive understanding of the clinical, regulatory, and documentation requirements related to the treatment and billing of mycotic toenail procedures.
- Understand Regulatory Guidelines
- Identify and apply the rules and regulations for debriding mycotic toenails in both “At Risk” Routine Foot Care patients and “Otherwise Healthy” patients presenting with symptomatic mycotic toenails.
- Differentiate and Document Procedures
- Distinguish between a nail avulsion and a slant back procedure, including the specific actions and documentation needed to properly support billing for each.
- Meet Documentation Criteria for Repeat or Advanced Procedures
- Recognize the required medical record documentation to justify performing a subsequent avulsion or a matrixectomy on the same toe.
